How to open a PRC (Adobe) file?

PolyTrans|CAD+DCC performs mathematically precise CAD, DCC/Animation, GIS and BIM 3D file conversions into all key downstream 3D packages and file formats. Okino software is used and trusted throughout the world by many tens of thousands of 3D professionals in mission & production critical environments, backed by respectable personal support directly from our core development team.

PRC

PRC (Product Representation Compact) is a 3D file format that can be used to embed 3D data in a PDF file. It was originally developed by the TTF Group of France whom were purchased by Adobe in 2006 (Adobe was originally interested in TTF's CAD converters and not so much the PRC file format). In 2014 PRC became an ISO published standard.

PRC is a fine file format by itself but just "one of many" lightweight 3D visualization file formats such as 3DXML, HOOPS HSF, DWF, EASM, glTF, JT, U3D, XAML-3D and dozens which have come and gone since the 1990s.

Okino expressly does not support the PRC file format since it is entirely redundant in terms of how our software works. Historically Okino has been heavily invested into the SW3D/U3D (Universal 3D File Format) since the year 2000 and had sunk a lot of money, time and resources into the evolution of our SW3D/U3D import and export converters. U3D was (and still is) a primary means to embed 3D data within a 3D PDF file. However, Adobe and its main 3D partners of the late 2000s lost interest in U3D for several key reasons which we document elsewhere. Since Adobe owned the rights to PRC it made natural sense that they would promote PRC as an additionally supported 3D file format for 3D PDF files along with U3D.
