NuGraf provides several methods of modulating the shading parameters using 2D texture images. This bump mapped teapot is an example of modifying the surface normals using a 2D texture image of a white raised circle. As the slope of the white bump changes in the texture the surface normals are bent accordingly. The startling result is a teapot with artificial circular bumps all over it. No modeling was required -- all the bumps were created via the texture image! Also note the very good anti-aliasing of the texture image using the MIPmap filtering technique (bump mapping is very susceptible to aliasing if MIPmapping is not used).
