Two user interfaces are available to the PolyTrans software:
The first is a graphical user interface for Microsoft Windows. This version
uses DLLs (dynamic link libraries) for each converter as well as providing
online help for each module.
The second is a command line interface used by the SGI IRIX version.
The command line interface is very simple to use,
but it can also provide access to every converter option (and more so) through
numerous switches and settings (which are all defaulted in a setup.ini script
file). Due to the declining popularity of the IRIX platform, the IRIX version of PolyTrans does not have most of the
recent converters that have been added to the Windows version.
Microsoft Windows minimum system requirements:
Microsoft Windows 2003/XP/2000-SP4. Windows 95 and 98 are no longer supported.
Microsoft Vista is considered identical to "XP" for Okino software. You need to have 'admin' rights for Vista.
Preferably 1GB-4GB of memory or more.
Any video card, but highly optimized for NVIDIA & ATI cards (pixel level shaders).
A maximum of 152Mb of free hard disk space.
For Mac OS X, any good Windows emulator. Okino software has worked without any errors on Mac since 1997 using a Windows emulator.
Reported to work on Linux using the WINE emulator.
Silicon Graphics system requirements:
IRIX 6.2 or greater; IRIX 6.5 or newer recommended.
